Britain’s National Grid (NG.L) to Spend Huge Fund to Turbocharge UK's Energy System
National Grid is preparing for a spike in renewable power and rising electricity consumption by proposing a major $74 billion investment to improve Britain's energy system.

Hello everyone, get ready for a major disruption in the UK's energy supply! The people in charge of overseeing our electrical grid, National Grid, have put out a substantial proposal to upgrade their energy infrastructure that would cost an astounding $74 billion, or roughly £58 billion.
Consider this, an astounding 64% increase in power demand is projected by 2035 as a result of more people driving electric vehicles and heating their houses with electricity rather than gas. And their grid as it is now? Comparable to attempting to fit a gallon into a pint pot.
The ambitious plans of National infrastructure include developing a new north-south energy highway to transport all that wind power from Scotland to England and expanding the offshore power infrastructure.
Scotland, speaking of which, is preparing to become a true renewable energy powerhouse. More wind projects than they'll ever need to power their own homes are planned off their coast.
