In 2030, the World Energy Outlook foresees a paradigm shift: a world with electric cars skyrocketing tenfold, solar PV outshining global power systems, renewables claiming nearly 50% of the worldwide electricity mix, electric heating systems outselling fossil fuel boilers, and three times the investment flowing into new offshore wind projects compared to coal and gas-fired power plants.
